Fair Access & Community Commitment
Chez is committed to fair access, nondiscrimination, accessibility, accommodation, and respectful hospitality for every household, chef, applicant, guest, and team member who interacts with the platform.
This commitment applies to all services, communications, and features offered through or in connection with Chez, regardless of market, service type, or participant role.
This document is drafted for informational purposes and is subject to revision before public launch. It does not constitute legal advice or create enforceable rights beyond those provided by applicable law. Chez reserves the right to update this commitment as the platform evolves.
Nondiscrimination
Chez does not permit users to exclude, mistreat, harass, or disadvantage another participant based on a characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Protected characteristics may include race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information, veteran or military status, marital or familial status, and any other legally protected status.
Household preferences may be considered when they are connected to legitimate culinary, dietary, privacy, cultural, accessibility, safety, or service requirements and are permitted by law.
Accessibility
Chez is working toward conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its internal digital-accessibility target. Accessibility is an ongoing process, and users may report barriers or request assistance at any time.
If you experience difficulty accessing any Chez feature, you may request personal assistance free of charge. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis to receive help.
Reasonable Accommodation
Chez will consider reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and procedures when needed to provide equal access, unless the modification would fundamentally alter the service, create a legitimate safety risk based on actual facts, be prohibited by law, or fall outside the culinary service.
Requests are routed to a human reviewer — never denied by software.
Effective Communication
Chez should be prepared to provide appropriate communication support when needed for meaningful access. This may include accessible electronic documents, large print, telephone support, relay-compatible communication, written chat, text-based support, captioned video, transcripts, qualified interpreter coordination where necessary, or plain-language explanations.
Service Animals
Chez recognizes the right of individuals with disabilities to use service animals as defined by applicable law. Chefs may not refuse service solely because of the presence of a service animal. If a household has pets or service animals, they should disclose this information during the booking process so the chef can plan appropriately.
Reporting Discrimination or Barriers
Please tell us where you experienced a barrier or discrimination: the page or feature, the device and assistive technology you used, and what you were trying to do. You do not need to identify a diagnosis or use legal terminology.
Good-faith reports of discrimination, harassment, safety concerns, or policy violations must not result in retaliation.
Response and Appeal Process
Accessibility and fair-access requests are acknowledged, discussed with the person requesting access where useful, and resolved with a documented decision. If the outcome does not provide effective access, you may appeal. Where feasible, the appeal is reviewed by someone other than the original decision-maker. Nothing in this process prevents you from contacting an appropriate government agency, emergency service, insurer, attorney, or other external resource.
