Policy — Platform Nondiscrimination

Platform Nondiscrimination & Equal Opportunity

Chez does not permit unlawful discrimination, harassment, exclusion, or unequal treatment in access to the platform or services.

Who This Covers

This policy applies to households, independent chefs, chef applicants, approved chefs, guests, Chez employees, Chez contractors, vendors, support interactions, matching, bookings, messages, reviews, payments, safety reporting, account enforcement, marketing, and referral programs.

Legitimate vs. Prohibited Preferences

Households and chefs may communicate legitimate service, safety, cuisine, scheduling, dietary, and accessibility requirements. They may not use preferences, reviews, booking requests, safety claims, or profile criteria to discriminate unlawfully.

Default Protected Categories

Race; color; ethnicity; national origin; ancestry; religion or creed; sex; pregnancy; sexual orientation; gender identity; gender expression; age; disability; genetic information where applicable; military or veteran status; marital status where applicable; familial status where applicable; citizenship or immigration status where protected; lawful source of income where applicable; and any other status protected by applicable law. Categories are jurisdiction-configurable.

Chef Decline Reasons

Chefs may decline requests for legitimate reasons such as availability, service area, service category, rate, documented dietary requirement, legitimate safety issue, kitchen usability, unresolved service-animal or allergy conflict, household misconduct, or boundary violation. Protected traits are not offered as decline reasons. A private "other reason requiring review" option routes to human review.

Language and Communication

Accent does not equate to inability to communicate. Users may request a language necessary for effective service communication. Free-text requests that appear discriminatory route for human review.

Anti-Retaliation

Chez prohibits retaliation against any person for requesting accessibility assistance, requesting a reasonable modification, using a service animal, reporting discrimination, participating in a review, providing information, opposing conduct reasonably believed to violate policy, or exercising privacy or legal rights.

Reporting

Concerns may be submitted through Chez without identifying an exact law or protected category. Nothing in this policy prevents a person from contacting an appropriate government agency, emergency service, insurer, attorney, or other external resource.

Not a Guarantee

Chez does not describe itself as bias-free, discrimination-proof, or guaranteed compliant. This policy establishes standards, review, and enforcement — not perfection.
