The House — Agreements

Household Service Agreement

The agreement between Chez, LLC and each Household that reserves an in-home personal chef experience through the Platform. This document is prepared in plain, editorial language for clarity and readability.

This Household Service Agreement governs the relationship between Chez, LLC and the individual or organization requesting, purchasing, arranging, or hosting a personal chef experience through the Chez, LLC Platform.

The person accepting this Agreement is referred to as the “Household,” even when that person is acting for a family, property owner, tenant, family office, employer, vacation residence, property manager, trust, business, or other authorized organization.

This Agreement supplements the Chez, LLC Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Cancellation and Refund Policy, Community Standards, Trust and Safety policies, and any reservation-specific proposal or confirmation.

By accepting a published version of this Agreement, the Household agrees to provide accurate information, maintain a reasonably safe and suitable service environment, authorize applicable payments, treat participating chefs professionally, and comply with the responsibilities described below.

If a reservation-specific proposal directly conflicts with this Agreement, the reservation-specific proposal will control only for the subject it expressly addresses.

§ 01

Account Eligibility

The Household account holder must be at least eighteen years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.

The account holder must not:

  • Use a false identity.
  • Create an account for another person without permission.
  • Use an account that has been suspended or terminated.
  • Arrange services for an unlawful or deceptive purpose.
  • Misrepresent the property, guests, event, or intended service.
  • Permit a minor to independently request, manage, or purchase services.

Chez, LLC may require identity, contact, payment, or authority verification before permitting a reservation. Creating an account does not guarantee that a particular chef, date, market, menu, or experience will be available.

§ 02

Booking Authority

The person requesting or confirming a reservation represents that they have authority to:

  • Enter the property.
  • Permit a chef to enter and work in the property.
  • Approve the proposed service.
  • Provide household information.
  • Authorize payments.
  • Make decisions for the reservation.
  • Bind the household or organization identified in the reservation.

When a reservation is arranged by an assistant, employer, family office, property manager, concierge, travel planner, or other representative, that person must have permission from the authorized household decision-maker. The account holder remains responsible for actions taken by authorized users, household members, assistants, guests, or representatives using the account or reservation.

§ 03

Accurate Household Details

The Household must provide complete, current, and accurate information concerning the service location and experience.

Required information may include:

  • Service address
  • Property type
  • Guest count
  • Guest ages when relevant
  • Event type
  • Arrival and service times
  • Parking information
  • Building or gate access
  • Kitchen size and configuration
  • Available appliances
  • Cookware and equipment
  • Allergies
  • Dietary restrictions
  • Pets
  • Children
  • Accessibility needs
  • Security systems
  • Household rules
  • Emergency contacts
  • Other conditions that may affect the service

The Household must promptly update Chez, LLC if any material detail changes. A significant change may require chef approval, revised pricing, a new payment authorization, menu revision, additional staffing, rescheduling, reassignment, or cancellation. Chez, LLC and the chef may rely on information submitted through the Household account.

§ 04

Kitchen Conditions

The Household must provide a kitchen and food-preparation area that is reasonably safe, sanitary, accessible, and suitable for the confirmed service.

Before the chef arrives, the Household must make reasonable efforts to ensure that:

  • Work surfaces are available and reasonably clean.
  • The sink is accessible.
  • Trash and recycling containers are available.
  • Floors are reasonably clear and dry.
  • Excessive clutter has been removed.
  • Existing dirty dishes do not prevent service.
  • Food-preparation surfaces are not contaminated.
  • Hazardous materials are stored away from food areas.
  • Adequate lighting is available.
  • Restroom access is available where reasonably necessary.

The chef is not required to clean a heavily soiled kitchen, remove pest contamination, address unsafe structural conditions, or perform unrelated domestic cleaning. If the kitchen is materially unsuitable, the chef or Chez, LLC may delay, modify, relocate, or cancel the service.

§ 05

Appliance Functionality

The Household must disclose which appliances and equipment are available and whether any are damaged, unreliable, unfamiliar, or unavailable.

Relevant items may include:

  • Oven
  • Stovetop
  • Refrigerator
  • Freezer
  • Sink
  • Dishwasher
  • Microwave
  • Ventilation
  • Grill
  • Small appliances
  • Cookware
  • Knives
  • Electrical outlets

The Household should test essential appliances before the reservation when reasonably possible. The chef is not responsible for repairing household appliances, servicing electrical or gas equipment, diagnosing mechanical failures, using equipment that appears unsafe, or continuing service when equipment presents a material hazard. Appliance failure may require menu modification, additional time, alternative equipment, or cancellation. Chez, LLC does not guarantee that a chef can complete the original menu when essential household equipment is unavailable or unsafe.

§ 06

Utilities

The Household must provide working utilities reasonably necessary for the service, including:

  • Potable water
  • Hot water
  • Electricity
  • Gas, when required
  • Refrigeration
  • Reasonable climate control
  • Adequate lighting
  • Sanitary waste disposal

The Household must notify Chez, LLC promptly of any utility interruption. A chef is not required to prepare or store food when a loss of utilities creates an unsafe or impractical condition. Chez, LLC may modify, delay, or cancel the service when required utilities are unavailable.

§ 07

Parking and Access

The Household must provide complete and accurate arrival instructions.

This may include:

  • Parking location
  • Gate code
  • Building entry instructions
  • Elevator access
  • Concierge procedures
  • Security requirements
  • Loading instructions
  • Unit number
  • Rural access information
  • Seasonal road conditions

The Household must disclose material access challenges, including long distances from parking to the kitchen, multiple flights of stairs, limited elevator access, restricted loading areas, paid parking, gated roads, construction, narrow entrances, unsecured animals, and areas requiring special permission. Unexpected delays, paid parking, difficult loading conditions, or access restrictions may result in additional charges where clearly disclosed and legally permitted. The Household must ensure that the chef can safely enter and leave the property at the confirmed times.

§ 08

Children

Children may be present during a service, but the Household remains responsible for their supervision, conduct, and safety.

The Household must ensure that children do not:

  • Enter active cooking areas without permission.
  • Touch hot surfaces or equipment.
  • Handle knives or other tools.
  • Interfere with food preparation.
  • Create unsafe distractions.
  • Consume restricted ingredients without authorization.
  • Prevent the chef from performing the service safely.

A Chez, LLC chef is not a babysitter, childcare provider, or supervisor of minors. The chef may pause work when a child enters a hazardous area or creates an immediate safety risk. Children may participate in a cooking class or interactive experience only when the activity was confirmed in advance and appropriate adult supervision is present.

§ 09

Pets

Chez, LLC welcomes lawful service animals. Service-animal needs are addressed separately from ordinary pet rules and in accordance with applicable law.

The Household must disclose animals that will be present at the property.

The Household is responsible for controlling pets and preventing interference with:

  • Food preparation
  • Ingredient storage
  • Equipment
  • Chef arrival and departure
  • Grocery deliveries
  • Kitchen sanitation
  • Guest safety

The Household must secure an animal when reasonably requested because of aggressive behavior, repeated jumping, food interference, sanitation concerns, allergy concerns, escape risk, or safety concerns. The Household remains responsible for damage or injury caused by an animal under its ownership or control, subject to applicable law.

§ 10

Allergies

The Household must not rely solely on casual messages or verbal comments to communicate a serious allergy. Required allergy information must be entered through the designated reservation process.

The Household must disclose all known food allergies, ingredient sensitivities, intolerances, and cross-contact concerns before menu approval.

The Household must identify:

  • The affected person
  • The allergen or ingredient
  • The severity
  • Known cross-contact concerns
  • Whether emergency medication is maintained
  • Any relevant preparation restrictions

Chez, LLC and chefs may use reasonable procedures to communicate and manage allergy information, but no residential kitchen or food-preparation environment can be guaranteed to be completely free from allergens or cross-contact. Chez, LLC does not provide medical advice. A Household managing a severe or life-threatening allergy should consult a qualified medical professional before reserving the service and maintain its recommended emergency plan.

§ 11

Dietary Requests

The Household must clearly disclose dietary preferences and restrictions during the reservation process.

These may include:

  • Vegetarian
  • Vegan
  • Gluten-conscious
  • Kosher-style
  • Halal-style
  • Religious dietary practices
  • Low-sodium
  • Ingredient exclusions
  • Texture needs
  • Wellness preferences
  • Medical dietary instructions

Chez, LLC and participating chefs will make reasonable efforts to determine whether a request can be accommodated. Unless expressly confirmed in writing, Chez, LLC does not guarantee certified kosher preparation, certified halal preparation, a completely allergen-free kitchen, medical nutrition therapy, therapeutic dietary treatment, compliance with a religious certification program, or prevention of all cross-contact. Material dietary changes after menu approval may result in additional fees, chef reassignment, rescheduling, or cancellation.

§ 12

Ingredient Purchasing

The reservation will specify whether ingredients are:

  • Purchased by the chef.
  • Purchased by Chez, LLC.
  • Provided by the Household.
  • Obtained through a third-party delivery service.
  • Managed through another approved arrangement.

When the chef purchases ingredients, the Household authorizes reasonable purchases consistent with the approved menu, the confirmed guest count, the grocery budget, disclosed dietary requirements, reasonable quality standards, and market availability. The Household understands that ingredient prices may vary, seasonal items may be unavailable, reasonable substitutions may be necessary, specialty products may cost more, and delivery, parking, or market fees may apply if disclosed. The chef should not intentionally exceed the approved grocery limit without additional authorization except when a minor variance is reasonably necessary and permitted by the reservation terms.

§ 13

Grocery Reimbursement

The Household agrees to reimburse authorized ingredient purchases and related approved expenses.

Reimbursable charges may include:

  • Food ingredients
  • Nonalcoholic beverages
  • Approved specialty items
  • Ice
  • Disposable food-storage materials
  • Approved delivery charges
  • Required parking or market fees
  • Applicable taxes

The chef or Chez, LLC may submit itemized receipts, digital receipts, purchase summaries, or approved expense records. The Household must report a grocery-charge concern promptly. Chez, LLC may review receipts, menu requirements, approved budgets, market pricing, and communications when resolving a dispute. Personal items, unauthorized purchases, or expenses unrelated to the reservation are not reimbursable.

§ 14

Alcohol

Alcohol is not included unless expressly stated in the confirmed reservation.

The Household is responsible for:

  • Purchasing alcohol where required.
  • Confirming that alcohol possession and service are lawful.
  • Ensuring that alcohol is not provided to a minor.
  • Monitoring guest consumption.
  • Preventing impaired driving.
  • Complying with property and event rules.

A chef may use Household-provided alcohol in food preparation when agreed. Unless separately authorized and legally permitted, a chef is not acting as a bartender, alcohol retailer, or licensed alcohol-service provider. Chez, LLC or the chef may refuse to participate in conduct that appears unlawful or unsafe. Dangerous intoxication, harassment, threats, or unsafe behavior may result in immediate termination of the service without requiring the chef to remain at the property.

§ 15

Chef Access

The Household authorizes the assigned chef to enter the confirmed areas of the property for the limited purpose of completing the reservation.

Access may include:

  • Kitchen
  • Dining area
  • Approved food-storage areas
  • Approved restroom
  • Designated entry route
  • Approved outdoor cooking area
  • Designated waste-disposal area

The Household must clearly communicate arrival procedure, entry codes, alarm instructions, locking procedures, areas available for use, areas that are restricted, and whether a Household representative will be present. A chef may not enter the property before or after the authorized service window except with permission or in an emergency. Access instructions must not require the chef to violate law, bypass security, enter an unsafe area, or assume responsibility for unrelated property management.

§ 16

Restricted Areas

The Household should identify any area that the chef may not enter.

Restricted areas may include:

  • Bedrooms
  • Offices
  • Private storage rooms
  • Locked cabinets
  • Wine cellars
  • Garages
  • Medical-storage areas
  • Childcare areas
  • Security rooms
  • Other private spaces

The chef must respect clearly communicated boundaries. The Household must not place essential kitchen equipment, approved ingredients, required utilities, or necessary access routes inside an undisclosed restricted area. Chez, LLC may document access instructions as part of the reservation record.

§ 17

Property Conditions

The Household must provide a service environment that is reasonably safe and free from undisclosed hazards.

The Household must disclose material conditions such as:

  • Broken stairs
  • Unsecured railings
  • Wet or unstable floors
  • Exposed wiring
  • Gas concerns
  • Mold or severe water damage
  • Pest infestation
  • Construction activity
  • Aggressive animals
  • Unsafe parking
  • Smoke conditions
  • Dangerous temperatures
  • Threatening occupants
  • Known contagious illness
  • Hazardous chemicals
  • Unsanitary food-storage areas

The chef may stop or decline service when the conditions create a reasonable safety, sanitation, or legal concern. Chez, LLC may request photographs, descriptions, or other information when reviewing a reported condition.

§ 18

Harassment, Discrimination, and Professional Conduct

The Household, household members, guests, staff, representatives, and other persons present must treat the chef and Chez, LLC personnel professionally and respectfully.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Sexual harassment
  • Unwanted sexual comments
  • Unwanted touching
  • Threats
  • Intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Bullying
  • Racist conduct
  • Sexist conduct
  • Disability discrimination
  • Religious discrimination
  • Anti-LGBTQ+ harassment
  • Hate speech
  • Retaliation
  • Coercion
  • Repeated degrading treatment
  • Requests based on unlawful discriminatory preferences

Chez, LLC does not permit a Household to request or reject a chef based on a characteristic protected by applicable law. Legitimate requests involving allergies, cultural cuisine, language access, accessibility, privacy, or other lawful service needs may be reviewed individually. The chef may leave immediately when conduct presents a safety risk or serious policy violation. The Household must not retaliate against a chef or another participant for making a good-faith report.

§ 19

Weapons

The Household must disclose any condition involving visible, unsecured, or actively handled weapons that may reasonably affect the chef's safety.

Weapons must not be:

  • Displayed to intimidate.
  • Handled during the service in a threatening manner.
  • Left unsecured in an active work area.
  • Used to threaten a participant.
  • Provided to a minor in an unsafe manner.
  • Present in violation of applicable law.

Chez, LLC does not prohibit lawful ownership merely because a weapon exists at a residence. However, the chef may decline or end service when the presence, placement, handling, or use of a weapon creates a reasonable safety concern. Nothing in this provision requires a chef to remain in a situation the chef reasonably believes is dangerous.

§ 20

Illegal Activity

The Platform and service may not be used to facilitate illegal activity.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Illegal drug manufacture or distribution
  • Human trafficking
  • Exploitation
  • Theft
  • Fraud
  • Violence
  • Food tampering
  • Unlawful alcohol service
  • Unlawful weapon activity
  • Money laundering
  • Unauthorized gambling
  • Other criminal conduct

A chef is not required to remain at a property where unlawful conduct is occurring or reasonably suspected. Chez, LLC may suspend the reservation, preserve relevant records, restrict accounts, and cooperate with lawful government requests when required.

§ 21

Photography, Recording, and Privacy

Marketing use requires separate, specific consent. General agreement to this Household Service Agreement does not constitute consent for commercial photography or advertising.

The Household must disclose active audio or video recording devices located in areas where the chef will work or communicate.

The Household may use lawful residential security systems, but must not:

  • Record in bathrooms or other legally protected private areas.
  • Use hidden recording in violation of law.
  • Publish identifiable chef content without permission.
  • Use recordings to harass, intimidate, or misrepresent the chef.
  • Record confidential Platform information for an improper purpose.

The chef may not photograph or record household members, children, guests, private documents, security systems, personal property, or the interior of the home without appropriate permission, except when documentation is reasonably necessary for an incident, damage report, safety concern, or legal obligation.

§ 22

Cancellations

Household cancellations are governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy and the reservation-specific terms presented before confirmation.

The applicable charge or refund may depend on:

  • Time remaining before service
  • Whether the chef accepted the reservation
  • Menu-development work
  • Grocery purchases
  • Nonrefundable ingredients
  • Travel arrangements
  • Staffing commitments
  • Event date
  • Force majeure conditions
  • Whether a replacement reservation is possible

The Household should cancel through the designated Platform process. A casual message to a chef may not constitute a completed cancellation unless it is acknowledged through Chez, LLC. Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, access failures, or payment failures may lead to account restrictions.

§ 23

Rescheduling

A request to change the date, time, address, menu, guest count, or service scope is not guaranteed.

A rescheduling request may require:

  • Chef approval
  • Updated availability
  • New pricing
  • New grocery authorization
  • Revised menu
  • Additional travel charges
  • New agreement acceptance
  • Cancellation and rebooking

Chez, LLC will make reasonable efforts to accommodate a change, but the original chef may not be available. A requested change is not effective until confirmed through the Platform or by an authorized Chez, LLC representative.

§ 24

Refunds

Refund eligibility is governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy, the reservation terms, and applicable law.

Depending on the circumstances, Chez, LLC may provide:

  • Full refund
  • Partial refund
  • Account credit
  • Replacement service
  • Rescheduling
  • No refund

Refunds may be reduced by ingredients already purchased, nonrefundable products, completed menu-development work, travel incurred, services already performed, and applicable cancellation charges. Subjective dissatisfaction alone does not automatically establish refund eligibility, but Chez, LLC may review concerns involving material failure to perform, safety, misrepresentation, significant menu deviation, chef nonattendance, unauthorized charges, or serious service-quality concerns. Approved refunds will generally be returned to the original payment method.

§ 25

Payment Authorization

The Household authorizes Chez, LLC and its payment providers to process charges associated with the reservation.

Charges may include:

  • Chef service fees
  • Platform fees
  • Grocery deposits
  • Grocery reimbursements
  • Approved overages
  • Travel
  • Parking
  • Taxes
  • Gratuities
  • Cancellation charges
  • Damage-related charges where properly documented and legally permitted
  • Other charges disclosed before authorization

Chez, LLC may place a temporary payment authorization hold before service. The Household must maintain a valid payment method. Failure of the payment method does not eliminate a valid payment obligation. The Household must not initiate a knowingly false chargeback. Good-faith billing disputes may be submitted through Household Support.

§ 26

Damage Reporting

The Household and chef must promptly report suspected property damage, loss, breakage, or injury connected with the service.

A report should include, where available:

  • Date and time
  • Description
  • Photographs
  • Video
  • Witness information
  • Purchase records
  • Repair estimate
  • Relevant communications
  • Reservation identifier

The Household must take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage. Submitting a report does not automatically establish responsibility. Chez, LLC may review preexisting conditions, property disclosures, chef statements, Household statements, photographs, service records, insurance information, and applicable agreements. Chez, LLC may facilitate communication or insurance documentation but does not guarantee payment or resolution. Ordinary wear, preexisting damage, fragile undisclosed items, appliance failure, and damage unrelated to the service may not be covered.

§ 27

Food Storage

The Household must provide adequate and functioning food-storage space when the service requires refrigeration, freezing, dry storage, or temporary ingredient storage.

The Household should make reasonable space available in:

  • Refrigerator
  • Freezer
  • Pantry
  • Coolers
  • Other approved storage areas

The chef may decline to store food when refrigeration is unavailable, the appliance appears unsafe, storage temperatures are unsuitable, existing food creates a contamination concern, there is insufficient space, or the Household requests unsafe storage. The Household is responsible for maintaining appliance operation after the chef leaves. Chez, LLC and the chef are not responsible for food loss caused by a later power outage, appliance failure, improper Household storage, or food remaining beyond recommended storage periods.

§ 28

Leftovers

The chef may package suitable leftovers when reasonably practical and when appropriate storage materials are available.

The Household assumes responsibility for leftovers after service completion, including:

  • Prompt refrigeration
  • Proper reheating
  • Safe storage temperature
  • Monitoring storage time
  • Discarding food that appears unsafe
  • Preventing allergen confusion

The chef may label food with available information, but the Household should not rely solely on informal labels when managing serious allergies. Some foods may not be suitable for storage or reheating. The Household should follow reasonable food-safety instructions provided by the chef and discard food when safety is uncertain.

§ 29

Emergency Procedures

Chez, LLC is not an emergency-response provider. For an immediate threat to life or safety, participants should contact the appropriate local emergency service.

The Household must provide an emergency contact when requested and disclose information reasonably necessary to respond to foreseeable service-related emergencies.

In an emergency, the chef or Chez, LLC may:

  • Contact emergency services
  • Contact the Household
  • Stop food preparation
  • Leave the property
  • Secure equipment when safe
  • Document the incident
  • Preserve relevant records
  • Contact building security
  • Take other reasonable protective actions

The Household remains responsible for maintaining personal medical plans, allergy medication, first-aid resources, and property emergency procedures.

§ 30

Assumption of Ordinary Household Risks

This provision does not release Chez, LLC or a chef from responsibility that cannot legally be waived, including responsibility that may arise from fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or other non-waivable legal duties.

An in-home chef experience involves ordinary and foreseeable household and food-preparation risks.

These may include:

  • Hot surfaces
  • Sharp tools
  • Steam
  • Open flames
  • Slippery surfaces
  • Heavy cookware
  • Breakable serving pieces
  • Foodborne illness risk
  • Allergens
  • Cross-contact
  • Appliance malfunction
  • Ordinary movement through the property

The Household agrees to exercise reasonable care and follow safety instructions.

§ 31

Service Concerns and Complaint Resolution

The Household should report a service concern as soon as reasonably possible so Chez, LLC can review it while relevant information remains available.

Reports may involve:

  • Service quality
  • Safety
  • Conduct
  • Discrimination
  • Harassment
  • Billing
  • Allergies
  • Property damage
  • Privacy
  • Access
  • Menu deviation
  • Grocery charges
  • Cancellation

Chez, LLC may request a written statement, photographs, receipts, communications, witness information, or additional documentation. Chez, LLC may interview involved participants and review Platform records. Possible outcomes may include explanation, support response, refund, partial refund, credit, chef reassignment, warning, training requirement, account restriction, suspension, termination, no action, or referral to insurance or appropriate authorities. A report does not automatically establish fault. Chez, LLC will seek to protect confidentiality where reasonably possible but cannot guarantee complete confidentiality when investigation, safety, insurance, or law requires disclosure.

§ 32

Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising from Household reservations are governed by the applicable dispute-resolution provisions contained in the Chez Terms of Use and any reservation-specific agreement.

Where a separately executed agreement applies to the reservation, that agreement controls. In the event of any inconsistency between this document and a governing agreement, the more specific agreement prevails.

Mandatory consumer protections provided by the law of the Household's residence remain applicable where they cannot legally be waived.

§ 35

Suspension or Termination of Household Access

Chez, LLC may warn, restrict, suspend, deactivate, or terminate a Household account when reasonably necessary because of:

  • Safety concerns
  • Fraud
  • Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Retaliation
  • Payment abuse
  • False chargebacks
  • Repeated cancellations
  • Material misrepresentation
  • Illegal activity
  • Property hazards
  • Threatening conduct
  • Agreement violations
  • Misuse of the Platform
  • Risk to chefs, guests, Chez, LLC, or third parties

Chez, LLC may take immediate action when delay could create a safety, fraud, legal, or security risk. Where appropriate, Chez, LLC may provide notice and an opportunity to respond. Account termination does not eliminate valid payment, investigation, record-retention, or dispute obligations.

§ 36

Changes to This Agreement

Chez, LLC may update this Agreement to reflect changes in:

  • Services
  • Reservation processes
  • Payment practices
  • Safety standards
  • Markets
  • Applicable law
  • Platform technology
  • Household responsibilities

Each published version will include a version number, last-updated date, effective date, summary of material changes, archived prior version, and reacceptance determination. Material changes will be communicated through reasonable methods. Where affirmative consent is required, the updated Agreement will not bind the Household until it is accepted.

§ 37

Contact

Household questions and legal notices may be directed to:

Related
Governing Hierarchy

Where a reservation-specific agreement exists, that agreement controls. Otherwise the Chef Services Agreement, Household Service Agreement, Terms of Use, Cancellation & Refund Policy, Privacy Policy, Community Standards, and Trust & Safety apply in that order. If two documents appear inconsistent, the more specific agreement controls.
