Policy — Employment

Equal Employment Opportunity Policy

This policy applies to applicants and employees applying to or working directly for Chez. It is not the chef-platform agreement, and it does not apply to independent chefs by virtue of platform participation.

Statement

Chez provides equal employment opportunities to qualified applicants and employees and prohibits unlawful discrimination and harassment based on characteristics protected by applicable federal, state, and local law.

Application

This policy applies to recruitment, application, hiring, pay, benefits, assignments, training, promotion, performance management, discipline, leave, termination, workplace conduct, and other terms and conditions of employment. Protected categories are configurable by jurisdiction.

Independent Chef Classification

Chez's platform nondiscrimination and accessibility policies apply contractually to participating chefs and households regardless of whether a particular federal employment statute applies to an independent contractual relationship. Chez does not label independent chefs as employees merely because this policy exists.

Additional Employment Topics

Chez maintains internal practices covering equal pay, pregnancy accommodation, religious accommodation, harassment prevention, retaliation, protected leave, military and veteran rights, genetic-information restrictions, age discrimination, state and local protected categories, pay transparency, salary-history restrictions, fair-chance hiring, immigration-related employment discrimination, and posting requirements.

How to Raise a Concern

Employees and applicants may raise concerns through Chez's internal channels. Nothing in this policy prevents a person from contacting an appropriate government agency.
