Policy — Effective Communication

Effective Communication Policy

Chez should be prepared to provide appropriate communication support when needed for meaningful access to the platform, support, and services.

Examples of Support

  • Accessible electronic documents.
  • Large-print documents.
  • Telephone support and relay-compatible telephone communication.
  • Written chat and text-based support.
  • Captioned video and transcripts.
  • Qualified interpreter coordination where necessary.
  • Alternative form completion.
  • Reading important information aloud.
  • Plain-language explanations.

What Chez Does Not Assume

Chez does not assume that a household member must interpret, that a child may interpret, that written notes are always sufficient, or that one communication method works for every person.

Choosing the Right Option

The appropriate option is chosen considering the nature, length, complexity, context, and urgency of the communication; the person's usual method of communication; the effectiveness of the proposed option; and the availability of alternatives.

No Surcharge

Chez does not charge a disability-specific surcharge for required aids, services, or reasonable modifications.
